Skarpretter is a more than slightly pissed off political DIY punk band from K-town, DK. The band was formed in the autumn of 2004 and grew out of the scene around Ungdomshuset where we had our home and heart until it’s eviction in March 2007. Now we’re residing in a basement somewhere in not-so-wonderful Copenhagen.
Skarpretter is a middle age word, meaning an official of the state appointed to carry out death sentences. Today the word is antique, and rarely used, but in reality, the state still has executioners on its payroll: from cops and judges to the doctors of the criminal psychiatric wards. The state still legally murders those who cannot or will not fit in. Not with a chop of an axe, but with drugs, years imprisonment in total isolation and the extreme and endorsed violence of its watchdogs, the police.

Skarpretter er et politisk DIY (Do-it-yourself) punk band fra K-town. Vi har spillet sammen siden efteråret 2004 og alle i bandet kommer fra scenen omkring Ungdomshuset på Jagtvej, hvor vi også havde vores øvelokale indtil røvhullerne ryddede huset den 1 Marts 2007. Nu har vi til huse i et kælderlokale et sted i ”wonderful” Copenhagen...
”Skarpretter” var originalt titlen på en statsautoriseret bøddel. I dag er ordet nærmest blevet antikt; men det betyder ikke at staten ikke har bødler på lønningslisten, de har bare andre fine navne i dagens Danmark.
